"summary": "net: hns3: add VLAN id validation before using",
"details": "In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:\n\nnet: hns3: add VLAN id validation before using\n\nCurrently, the VLAN id may be used without validation when\nreceive a VLAN configuration mailbox from VF. The length of\nvlan_del_fail_bmap is BITS_TO_LONGS(VLAN_N_VID). It may cause\nout-of-bounds memory access once the VLAN id is bigger than\nor equal to VLAN_N_VID.\n\nTherefore, VLAN id needs to be checked to ensure it is within\nthe range of VLAN_N_VID.",

"scenario": "AV:L - The flaw is reached through an HNS3 SR-IOV VF-to-PF hardware mailbox, not received network traffic; a tenant controlling an assigned VF can craft the VLAN command.\nAC:L - With the default port-based VLAN state disabled, an invalid delete deterministically causes an out-of-bounds set_bit() after hardware validation returns -EINVAL. No race or uncontrollable condition is required.\nPR:L - The attacker needs control of an assigned VF but no PF or host administrative privilege or mailbox authentication. Delegated VF access is a low privilege in the originating tenant scope.\nUI:N - The PF processes the VF mailbox command automatically without any victim action.\nS:C - An untrusted VM or workload can control the VF while the malformed request corrupts the host PF kernel, crossing the tenant-to-host security boundary.\nC:H - The 16-bit ID reaches roughly 7.5 KiB beyond the bitmap into adjacent pointers and structures. The resulting corruption can enable host-kernel code execution and arbitrary memory disclosure.\nI:H - Invalid delete and add requests provide selected bit-set and bit-clear operations over adjacent kernel data, enabling pointer corruption and potentially host-kernel code execution.\nA:H - The repeatable out-of-bounds atomic memory operations can corrupt or fault kernel memory, directly causing a host kernel oops, panic, or hang."
