AV:L - Exploitation requires an open file descriptor on the local DRM primary node (/dev/dri/cardN) and issuing DRM_IOCTL_MODE_ATOMIC; there is no remote or adjacent-network reachability.
AC:L - The attacker deterministically triggers the type confusion by binding/unbinding the writeback connector's CRTC_ID in a single atomic commit — no race, no timing window, and the affected hardware (all AMD DCN 3.0+ GPUs) registers the writeback connector unconditionally in the default configuration.
PR:L - Only an unprivileged local user with access to the DRM card node and DRM-master status is needed — the typical logged-in desktop/kiosk user via the uaccess ACL or video group, and any local user when no compositor holds master; the atomic and writeback client caps require no capabilities at all.
UI:N - The attacker performs the atomic modeset ioctl entirely on their own; no victim action is required for the amdgpu_dm_commit_audio() path.
S:U - The heap corruption occurs in kernel slab memory belonging to the same kernel security authority; no VM, IOMMU, or sandbox boundary is crossed.
C:H - The cast produces out-of-bounds reads roughly 1 KB into the adjacent kmalloc-4k object (audio_inst at 5032, mst_root at 4952, freesync_vid_base at 5104), and the resulting controllable heap corruption can be leveraged into broader kernel memory disclosure.
I:H - amdgpu_dm_commit_audio() performs a cross-object out-of-bounds write of 0xFFFFFFFF at a fixed offset in the neighbouring slab object, and get_highest_refresh_rate_mode() writes 120 bytes of attacker-influenced mode timings out of bounds — classic heap-spray-and-overwrite primitives usable for control-flow hijack.
A:H - The out-of-bounds accesses corrupt adjacent slab objects and dereference garbage pointers (dm_resume() reads a bogus dc_link and dereferences it on every resume), reliably producing KASAN splats, oopses, and kernel panics."
