media: edia: dvbdev: fix a use-after-free
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

media: edia: dvbdev: fix a use-after-free

In dvb_register_device, *pdvbdev is set equal to dvbdev, which is freed
in several error-handling paths. However, *pdvbdev is not set to NULL
after dvbdev's deallocation, causing use-after-frees in many places,
for example, in the following call chain:

budget_register
  |-> dvb_dmxdev_init
        |-> dvb_register_device
  |-> dvb_dmxdev_release
        |-> dvb_unregister_device
              |-> dvb_remove_device
                    |-> dvb_device_put
                          |-> kref_put

When calling dvb_unregister_device, dmxdev->dvbdev (i.e. *pdvbdev in
dvb_register_device) could point to memory that had been freed in
dvb_register_device. Thereafter, this pointer is transferred to
kref_put and triggering a use-after-free.
AV:L - The vulnerable code is in dvb-core adapter registration, reached through local device probe/re-probe of a DVB adapter, with the error condition (kmalloc failure or DVB minor exhaustion) driven by a local unprivileged process inducing memory/resource pressure. No network or adjacent-network path exists, but the trigger does not require physical access on systems where a local user can force a re-probe of an already-present tuner.
AC:L - There is no race the attacker must lose; the attacker controls both sides — memory pressure to force the GFP_KERNEL failure paths, and registration attempts to hit them, plus the deterministic MAX_DVB_MINORS exhaustion path under CONFIG_DVB_DYNAMIC_MINORS. Per the UAF guidance, a use-after-free with attacker-influenceable triggering conditions is Low.
PR:L - A basic unprivileged local account suffices to generate the memory pressure that forces the error paths and to drive repeated registration attempts; no CAP_SYS_ADMIN or root in the init namespace is required to reach dvb-core's registration failure handling.
UI:N - No victim action is needed — the attacker drives both the allocation failure and the device registration attempt themselves, and the stale pointer is consumed automatically by the driver's own error-unwind path.
S:U - The corruption is confined to kernel heap and kernel static data within the same security authority; there is no VM, IOMMU, or sandbox boundary crossed.
C:H - The dangling struct dvb_device is dereferenced after free (dmxdev->dvbdev->users, ->wait_queue, ->minor), so heap-spray reallocation of that slab object gives the attacker control over the freed contents and, via the list_del unlink and wait-queue callback primitives, a route to arbitrary kernel memory disclosure.
I:H - The use-after-free yields multiple write primitives: list_del() on freed memory is a classic write-what-where unlink, dvb_minors[dvbdev->minor] = NULL writes at an attacker-chosen offset from a static array, and kref_put() double-frees the object — collectively sufficient for control-flow hijack and privilege escalation.
A:H - Even without full exploitation, dereferencing and kfree()ing already-freed memory reliably produces slab corruption, a double free, and out-of-bounds writes, resulting in kernel oops or panic."
